location: Duarte, California distance: 67.12 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride tags: Back Country, Big Climbs, Very Hilly created by: description: Starting from Encanto Park in Duarte, there are steady rollers on N. San Gabriel Canyon Road for about 11 miles to East Fork. Another 5 miles and the real climbing begins, going up Glendora Mountain Road. Turn left at the fork, and you are on your way to Mt Baldy Village. Once there, you can hit the bathrooms at the visitor center, get water, and prepare yourself for the return trip. <br> On the return route, save some energy for the last 11 miles on N. San Gabriel Road. It features some good uphills, and you are typically fighting a strong headwind that is coming up the canyon. <br> <br> NOTE: Park in the lot at Encanto Park. There are bathrooms there, but they don't open until 9:00AM. Just south of the lot is a path that crosses the river gourge. Head north about 3 miles on the bike path to get onto N. San Gadriel Canyon Road. <br> View | Video | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend |
