location: Virginia Beach, Virginia distance: 34.26 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: High Traffic Area, Low Traffic Area, Race, Residential Area, Suburban created by: description: Fast A-A+ pace group, with a B pace ride 5 minutes later. Tripower acts as group leader, with many other teams represented like SR racing/Le Blue, VB wheelmen, and Coastal. 35 milies with 2 regroup for the A ride and a nobody gets dropped policy for the B ride. Start is at the Contes at 1805 Laskin Rd. Slow start for a few miles until the right onto Great Neck with a sprint a few miles later just after the bridge to a regroup at the shopping center at Gt Neck and Shore Dr. Then down Shore Dr toward the Oceanfront which turns into Atlantic Ave. Sprint to 49th St where we enter the Bay Colony neighborhood and slow down. Regroup 4 miles later at the New Moon Cafe at the corner of Holly and Pinewood Rds, 1 block north of Laskin and Holly Rd intersection. Some people head a few miles up Laskin to the start, or to get an early start on coffee at Starbucks. Most people reverse course and go slowly through the neighborhood and pick up speed again on Atlantic. Sprint about 8 miles later right before the Food Lion shopping center where the first regroup was. We wait at the light only for recently dropped riders (ie from the sprint of it's lead up), then go down Gt Neck with a sprint several miles later to Mill Dam Rd where we turn left at the 7-11. Moderate to slow spin back to the Starbucks where we socialize and tell stories of athletic prowess to impress the opposite sex or other team members. location: Virginia Beach, Virginia distance: 34.78 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Back Country, City, Flat, High Traffic Area, Low Traffic Area, Residential Area, Suburban created by: description: Fast A pace group ride for 35 milies with 2 regroups. Start is at the Contes at 1805 Laskin Rd. Most of the route is the exact same as the Saturday morning 8:30 am Contes ride except for the few miles. Slow start through the neighborhood near Hilltop. With the right onto Great Neck it speeds up markedly. A few miles later the pace really picks up after all the lights for a final sprint just after the bridge to a regroup at the shopping center at Gt Neck and Shore Dr. We usually get here about 9 am where new riders usually join us. Reverse course slowly through the neighborhood and pick up speed again on Atlantic. Sprint about 8 miles later right before the Food Lion shopping center where the first regroup was. We wait at the light for recently dropped riders only then go down Gt Neck with a sprint several miles later to Mill Dam Rd where we turn left at the 7-11. This slow spin section to the end of the ride is the same as the normal Saturday morning 8:30 Contes ride and is different from the first few miles of this ride. We end at Panera 1 block from the Contes where we started. Turn right onto Republic Rd and an immediate left into the shopping center for coffee and bagels usually right about 10 am. location: Virginia Beach, Virginia distance: 14.86 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Beach, City, Flat, Low Traffic Area, Race, Waterfront created by: description: Flat and fast. Nice to have one whole lane of Shore Dr. shut down for the race. No water stops on course but short enough to carry own fluids no problem.
