Behind Blencathra
A classic mid-length MTB ride from Keswick out onto the fells to the NE of the town. Largely traffic free, with short sections of quiet backroads, the route involves considerable climbing. The middle section of the ride involves some technically challenging riding at well over 1000 feet on exposed mountainsides. There is also a short section of highly technical riding on steep hillside which needs to be treated with respect. Otherwise, it's a classic taste of the Lakes, with tremendous views, a satisfying sense of the wilderness, but never actually all that far from civilization.
