Bike Ride Description
Ever thought of riding a Double Century?
This is an organized ride (either one day or two). It used to be in late June, but in recent years has been moved to mid July.
I've ridden this event twice. The first time the weather was very warm/hot. Seattle 86, Portland was 89. It was still 86 in Portland around 7:00p.
The second time I rode this event it was cold and raining. Rained about 40% of the route (off/on) and the temp never exceeded 58 the entire route.
This is a great first double. It's fairly flat. In fact the first 100 (to Centralia) is very flat and fast! Good for hammerin'!
Centralia is an ideal stop for lunch.
The second 100 miles is rolling hills either in a rural setting. The last 40+ miles miles is along the Columbia River mostly flat with some undulations. Also most of the road (US 30) along the Columbia is very wooded providing nice shade.

Is this the ride that goes from the space needle to Portland? Or just a general place in Seattle to Portland? Either way, sounds great, going to attempt in the next few months.
