MITCNC long route from SF Pier 41 to Tiburon
Route from Pier 41 in S.F. to Tiburon, via Corte Madera and Kentfield ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - From Pier 41 in San Francisco, cycle west down Jefferson St. to the Maritime Museum. - Cycle along the wide sidewalk in front of the Maritime Museum, and swing to the right as it curves. - Turn left on McDowell Ave. and cycle up the steep hill, then cycle down through Fort Mason, going down the sidewalk to the west. - Cycle along Marina Blvd., beside the yacht harbor area, and cycle along the wide bike path until it comes to the Presidio. - Cycle west on the bike path beside Mason St. in the Presidio, until it comes to the T-intersection, with the very short street on the left connecting to Crissy. - Turn left at the T-intersection, then make a quick right onto Crissy. - Cycle up Crissy to Lincoln Blvd. - Cycle up Lincoln Blvd. until you see on your right the bike path which leads to the Golden Gate Bridge. Follow that bike path to the GG Bridge, and under the GG Bridge. - Cycle up and onto the west side of the GG Bridge, then cycle north over the GG Bridge and into Marin County. - On the north side of the GG Bridge, turn left and go down Conzelman Rd. (a steep and winding road). Follow it under the GG Bridge and into Fort Baker. - Cycle through Fort Baker, on East Rd. (going past the S.F. Bay Discovery Museum). - Continue along Ft. Baker Rd. beside the coast, until it meets up with South Alexander Av., then turn to the right onto South Alexander Av. - Continue along South Alexander Av. into Sausalito. - Cycle through Sausalito, on Bridgeway. - After cycling through Sausalito, follow the San Francisco Bay Trail through the open meadows. - When the SF Bay Trail ends at E. Blithedale Ave. (at a 4-way intersection), turn left on E. Blithedale Ave. and cycle west for a short distance (~100 m) to Camino Alto. - Turn right on to Camino Alto. It is a winding hilly road, but has little traffic. - Go north on Camino Alto. Along the way, the road forks. Take the left fork (named Corte Madera Ave.) and follow it into the town of Corte Madera. - Continue along Corte Madera Ave. through Corte Madera. The road's name changes to Magnolia Ave. - Follow Magnolia Ave. to and through the town of Larkspur. - The road's name changes to College Ave. as it enters the town of Kentfield. - In Kentfield, turn right onto the bike trail just before coming to the small river. This right-hand turn is immediately after you cycle past the Union Bank of California (on the right-hand side of the road), and a few hundred metres before coming to Sir Francis Drake. - Cycle along the bike trail on the south side of the river for a short distance, then cross over the small pedestrian/cyclist bridge (with a sign marked #20) to the north side of the river. Cycle along the bike trail for a long way. When it eventually comes to an intersection with Bon Air Rd., go across Bon Air Rd. and continue cycling down S. Eliseo Dr. - When S. Eliso Dr. comes to an end, continue cycling along the bike trail that begins at the end of S. Eliso Dr. - Cycle along the bike trail until it comes to highway 101. Just before coming to highway 101, turn left and cycle up to the entrance ramp going up to the bridge. - Cycle up the pedestrian/cyclist lane on the west side of the ramp and bridge, and then cycle southward on the west side of highway 101. - Shortly after crossing over the river, look for a pedestrian/cyclist bridge that crosses over highway 101. Cycle up the spiral ramp and ride across this bridge to the east side of highway 101. - Cycle southward along the service road on the east side of highway 101. - Watch for a Cost Plus store on the left, and then a large mall with a Nordstroms and other stores. Just before that large mall, turn left at the T-intersection. This is the start of San Clemente Rd. - Cycle southward on San Clemente Rd. and then Paradise Dr. into Tiburon. - a 36.7 mi cycling route in San Francisco, California
