Stratton Mountain Day Hike: Griffith Pond
Griffith Lake Out and Back from Forest Road 58: Once an old carriage road, this trail meanders through scenic mixed hardwood/softwood forest. There are several gradual inclines along the way, but overall, the trail remains relatively flat. At approximately 0.5 miles from the trailhead, there is a large beaver pond, which offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Griffith Lake is a popular area for picnicking, swimming, and camping. Griffith Lake Out and Back: 4.3 miles, moderate, 2 1/2 - 3 hour Directions from Stratton Mountain: Take the Stratton Mountain Access Road NW to the bottom and the town of Bondville. Turn left onto Route 30 for 7.4 until reaching the intersection with Route 11. Turn right onto Route 11 for 5 miles towards Peru, VT (passing Bromley Mountain). Once in Peru, take a left (North) onto Hapgoo Road towards North Cemetery. Turn left onto Mad Tom Notch Road. Continue shortly and take a right onto Road 58. Follow briefly to the parking area for the Griffith Lake Out and Back walk/hike - a 4.3 mi hiking route in Manchester Center, Vermont
