Denver Century Ride Century Ride Final
This course starts and finishes on Main Street at the Shops at Northfield Stapleton and explores the northwest section of the metro area. The Century Ride (100 mile course) initially heads due west on the designated bike lane along Martin Luther King Blvd. past the original brick homes of the Park Hill and Whittier neighborhoods before heading into Downtown Denver. To eliminate the stop and go nature of riding through a downtown area, the Denver Century Ride is closing a portion of the roads for the first part of the morning. The route continues through the historic Highlands neighborhood before moving on to the spacious views from Arvada, Lakewood and Golden. The route will climb the south side of Lookout Mountain with hairpin turns reminiscent of some of the famous European climbs of the Tour de France. After the mountain descent the ride heads towards Morrison on the Hogback with tremendous views of Red Rocks and before heading back toward Golden and some of the pastoral roads of Jefferson County. The route will travel through the bicycle friendly city of Arvada. The course will travel below Standley Lake and head towards Broomfield. The final leg of this course brings you to the plains of Colorado, away from the suburban sprawl into a rural setting followed by a straight shot to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, on to the fantastic food, expo, live band and family fun on Main Street at the Post Ride Street Party at the Shops at Northfield Stapleton. - a 161915.3 m activity route in Wheat Ridge, Colorado
