Description of this Bike Ride

Day 1 to Rhododendron, mi. 48 (snowlinemotel.com)--see elevation; this is after the 1st long climb & descent; Day 2 return = 2nd long/steep climb & very long descent. What are these roads like in late May? Are they all paved? Note mi. 30 where the auto-road thing takes it off the main road; the detour looks more straightforward, along a stream, rather than up the bank.
