Wick to John o'Groats (Duncansby Head)
48th & final stage of LEJOG ride. If you have stayed with us so far, I hope you will be rewarded by some fine weather for this last stage - we were lucky. As you get to the top of the final hill you can feel justly proud of yourself as you enjoy a magificent view of the Pentland Firth with the Orkney Islands beyond - and it is all downhill to the finish post! John O'Groats is not the actual extreme North East tip of the mainland - that is Duncansby Head, which can be reached by a side road on the right as you enter JOG - most people (including my son and I) carried on to the official finish post in the village itself, to have our photos take by the famous signpost. Hope you enjoyed the ride. - a 16.6 mi cycling route in Wick, the United Kingdom
